We have had a member request from Ian Howe, who is keen to gain greater confidence in moving within the group; knowing when, where and how to reposition himself when taking a turn on the front and then peeling off.
So we will have a 25-30 mile, easy paced group on Saturday, introducing the principles of chaingang and practicing close quarter riding. When riding at pace, chaingang allows the group to move at a higher pace as a whole, by individuals taking short intervals on the front. It is however, a skill, so we will practice the technique at moderate pace. If you would like to be involved, but don’t want to take a turn on the front, that’s ok!
There is also a long route out to the Surrey Hills of 70 miles planned.
If you would like to ride something in between, please leave a comment!
Meet at 08.50 outside 700HQ as usual. Chapeau!
No MOS this Sunday – the platform and format are yours to decide!
With the Red Kite sportive swarming the Chilterns, it would probably wise to explore new routes. Who’s riding, who’s hiding?!
Route suggestions welcome…..
It seems Sunday is a busy day for sportives, with many riders at the Red Kite, so most riders are looking for a shorter spin as a leg loosener.
Meet at the shop at 08.50 and agree a route. Remember, a maximum of 10 riders per group.
If you would prefer to ride longer, please leave a comment here to alert other riders looking to do the same.
Enjoy folks! 🚲

Nick Dorey has suggested a longer route of 63 miles with cake stop out towards his backyard of Pangbourne. The Ride Hills Eat Cake route is fairly self explanatory!
There is a steady ride heading out, suitable to new club riders and those finding their fitness, British Summer. We’ll ride to the pace of the slowest rider and likely split the group so we have similar ability riders grouped together.
If you would prefer to ride a longer, shorter, hillier or flater route, then please leave a message in the comments, there will undoubtedly be other members to join you!
Dale is taking out the Sunday ride into the Surrey Hills, in the normal MOS format. The route is Short Sharp Shock.
Those who wish to ride more socially can do so, usual drill, everyone at 700 HQ at 08.50.
The general consensus for Saturday seems to be, we ride for around 30 miles, on a familiar route, so we can get back for Bikes and Beer!
If you would prefer to ride for longer, and want a route, or help to drum up some other riders, please let us know.
We’ll meet at 700HQ at 08.50 as usual and get organised into groups. Enjoy the ride!
