I just wanted to let you know that 700 has negotiated a 15% discount with Pedal Sure, on behalf of its customers and I would like to extend this to 700CC members.
They are a Cycle Specific Insurer and their staff are cyclists themselves – so they know what we need.
The most basic level of cover will set you back a paltry £5.09pm after the 15% discount has been applied.
For that you’ll get personal cover for amateur racing, charity rides, time trials and sportives – as well as 7 days worldwide cover – not bad if you fancy joining us for a Training Camp or nipping to the Alps for some sun!
Click for details.
The weather is looking more manageable now, let’s do it!
Please leave a message here, or in the Facebook event so we know who to expect.
Please dress appropriately for the weather.
Remember to check your bike over this evening and make sure you have adequate puncture repair kit, hydration and nutrition with you; the shop will not be open at the time we meet.
Ladies and Gents.
Under our cold weather policy it is our duty to remind riders that – given the forecast conditions of -2c at 9am tomorrow – 700cc does not sanction a ride.
With that said, we understand that rides have been suggested (Jonathan Jarman / David Lilley) and if those organising them are happy to lead out then they can of course do so.
If you do ride – be sensible.
* check your machine before you leave the house.
* ensure you are PROPERLY dressed – better too warm than too cold
* ride with discipline and keep the pace even
* ride supplied – puncture kits with CO2 cartridges that actually have CO2 in them
* minimise stops – wait until the end to get your coffee/brandy reward!
Standing at the side of the road fixing punctures will get very cold very quick – if you get one, get the fastest hands on it!
Be safe. Rubber side down.
Routes suggestions courtesy of Jonathan this week:
The short route of 30 miles, fairly flat, rides out to Ottershaw
The longer route of 50 miles will ride out in the same direction to West Horsley, with the opportunity of a coffee stop.
Please download the route if you can. Get together with similar pace riders, you can ride as fast or slow as you like, as long as the group are in agreement. Multiple groups are ok and are positively encouraged so everyone gets the ride they want, but you must speak up to achieve this!
It’s definitely getting colder, please dress appropriately. Remember, those mechanical stops can have you feeling the cold pretty quickly!
Ride with discipline, keep the group safe and enjoy the ride!
As we have a number of riders at the Westerly Winter Warmer on Sunday, we have a steady, flat, 30 miler heading out on Saturday; the Mill Pond.
A nice leg loosenr before Sunday, or a easy spin for those who have yet to turn the wheels this year 😉
Happy New Year!
We will be riding out tomorrow, meeting at 700HQ at 08.50. If you haven’t ridden with us before, we will ask you to join a NEW Intro club ride first; the first Sunday of every month (see previous post).
We’ll be taking it easy after the recent excesses! The short route out will be a steady 28 miles, with one climb up Terry’s Lane.
The longer route suggestion, with one climb out of Marlow is the Vicar of Dibley.
Dress appropriately, we may get a little wet!
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday! Please be on time, the ride brief is at 09.50. If you miss the brief, you won’t be able to join us.
Please dress appropriately; we are expecting some wet weather.
This is a road bike ride. Please check your machine is in good working order before Sunday to avoid any unwelcome surprises on the morning!
If you have any issues, please drop in and see us in the shop on Saturday; we will not be open at the time we ride out on Sunday.
Please bring enough nutrition and hydration for the duration. We will be out for up to two hours, depending on the pace of the group. We are aiming for an easy pace of 14/15 mph to allow the focus to be on the skill of group riding.
See you Sunday!
We have our Christmas ride out on Sunday, meet at 700HQ at 09.50, for a 10.00 roll out. Christmas attire is positively encouraged!
£10 buys your ticket with proceeds going to the club’s chosen charity Myeloma UK. We’ll enjoy mulled wine and mince pies on our return and you’ll get a raffle ticket to win a bottle of champagne and a large panatone!
The route is 26 miles out through Wentworth, it will be a very social pace to avoid tinsel chaos, multiple groups as necessary, so appropriate for everyone!
There will also be the regular Sunday ride out, this time at 09.30. Scraso, has a true to form 66 miler ‘Christmas Surprise‘. The pace will be more social at 16/17 mph, likely 18/20 mph on the flat, and taking the climbs easy, waiting at the top.
Right then….. I’ll be riding out tomorrow for about 3 hours. Probably around the 17mph average – steady winter miles – whatever keeps warmth in the bones!
8:50 at the shop
No route planned but I’m sure we’ll be fine!
It looks to be breezy with a nippy feel and potentially a shower so dress appropriately and bring your hip flasks 😉
Who’s with me?
There’s a gentle 30 miler heading out on Saturday, as well as a CX off- road route.
If you would like to ride longer, please leave a comment and we’ll locate you the cycling buddies!
Meet at 700HQ at 08.50 to get organised and agree routes.
