Interested in joining a cycling club for some support and motivation to get out on your bike this Summer? We are welcoming potential new members to join us!
If this is your first foreay into group riding, we will be practising the necessary skills to ride safely in a group that will enable you to enjoy the road with others. The emphasis will be on skill as opposed to mileage.
You may have ridden with other groups before, but all groups ride differently and so for the safety and enjoyment of the group as a whole, we will ask you to join this ride before any other club rides.
You are welcome to join us for two rides before we will ask you to be a paid up member.
Suitable for road bikes only, no TT bikes or Tri bars please, the ride will be 20-25 miles at an easy pace. We will meet at 700HQ at 08.50.
Riding in close proximity to other riders takes discipine and practice. Once mastered, this skill will enable you to ride faster and for longer as part of the bunch.
For an insight into road cycling etiquette, see our club guide here
If you would like to join us, please leave a message here so we can gauge numbers.
For any questions, please email us on info@700cc.org

Thanks to Steve and Simon for leading the Beginners’ Ride yesterday, 7 August. Hopefully I can join a medium-paced Saturday ride before deciding to apply to join the Club.
Thanks again. Alister Turtle.

Hi there Alister, I just had Liz pop into my office – I hadn’t made the connection! I’m planning on taking out a club ride on Saturday, 8.50 meet, probably 60miles aimed at 14-16mph aimed at those newer to group riding or those looking to build distance. There will also be a 85mile option out to the surrey hills at ~17mph.

Hi any idea of the profile of the 60 mile ride? I’d like to tag along but this would be my longest ride by far to date and think i would struggled if it hit any big hills along the way.

Great to see some of you last Sunday for the Intro Ride led by myself and Steve. For those that came on the Intro ride and would like to try out another club ride…..
I’m planning on taking out a club ride on Saturday, 8.50 meet, probably 60miles aimed at 14-16mph aimed at those newer to group riding or those looking to build distance. Speed will be to suit the group as a whole. There will also be a 85mile option out to the surrey hills at ~17mph I believe, led by a fellow ride Leader Graham.
Maybe see some of you for another ride then on Saturday! 🙂

A possible route for Saturday is the Sonning Mill Twist route: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/9179318
It’s not too challenging in terms of hills and we will take it at a pace to suit the whole group so don’t worry! If 60 feels like a bit far there may be others turning up on Saturday for a shorter ride….
