700cc in partnership with Spring Cycle Coaching are hosting a Race Skills Session at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit. This session will give riders the chance to practise vital racing skills in a safe environment and allow riders to gain experience of the circuit.
The session is from 13.30 – 17.30, suitable for anyone who would like to improve their group riding skills as well as novice, 4th cat and 3rd cat racers and has been accredited by the Surrey League. Any novice/4th cat rider wishing to compete in the Surrey League must attend two of these sessions before they are able to race in the 2016 series. http://www.surreyleague.co.uk/ 700cc members will be given priority before the session is offered to other clubs.
The session will cover:
Riding/racing positions
Group riding/bunch etiquette
Maintaining and changing positions in a bunch
Race techniques such as making a break, chasing a break, pace lines, sprinting
Mock race scenarios
Classroom discussion/Q&A (over tea & cake!) about training, preparing to race, local events, how to enter your first race, what to expect etc
The session will be coached by fully qualified British Cycling Coaches with assistance from expert riders to help guide and give valuable advice. The pace will be controlled so all abilities of riders will be able to benefit from the session.
This session will be ideal for anyone considering the Imperial Cycles Winter Series (but not compulsory as is the Imperial Winter Series is not Surrey League).
